Sunday 29th June 08 - Teenage Cancer Trust Show Starring Blah Blah Blah, The Strums And The Strands At Adelphi Club Hull

We all know someone who has suffered from cancer, but just imagine if that someone
was still of a school or college age? Each day six UK teenagers are diagnosed with cancer.
What kind of life are they going to have just as they are beginning an often long and
complicated journey into adulthood? The Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) is devoted to
improving the lives of teenagers and young adults with cancer.

You can help by supporting this worthwhile event of local musicians pulling together
to highlight a cause that could strike somebody close to you down tomorrow.
Join forces with Blah Blah Blah (who has toured with Jack Penate, Kate Nash and
Lethal Bizzle).
Alongside The Strums who hail from the east side of the city playing high octane guitar based
indie sounds and The Strands much talked off, highly applauded who are said to have an
individual style that is proving entertaining and inspirational on the Hull rock scene.

A need assessment was carried out by Cornerhouse with both parents and
workers earlier this year to explore some of the issues that prevent parents from talking to their children about sexual health.
On the back of this research a course has been developed to equip workers with the skills to enable parents to talk to their children about sexual health.

On the 10th May The Yorkshire Post reported Leeds University given go-ahead for open field trial
of GM potato crop.
The potatoes have had their genes tweaked by Professor Howard Atkinson to give them resistance to a parasite.
The move was announced yesterday by the Department of Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs (Defra), headed
by Leeds MP Hilary Benn.
