The 'classic' British summer and the 'curse' of the KC Stadium looked to have struck again on the evening of the 26th May, when The Who played in Hull. It rained yet again. Not the torrential downpours of past gigs there, but it was chilly and damp enough to make it uncomfortable for those out in the open. It just goes to show though that a bit of lousy weather could not break the spirit of those who went. Hull in the past has been deprived of mega-star bands so when we get them, we want to keep them.

There was a fairly mixed age range at the KC for the gig, at least 3 generations, but there seemed to be a few more 'Pensions' than 'Parka's' there on view. The concert started around 6pm with the first support band for the evening, Jackson Analogue, a five piece band hailing from the Isle of Wight. They put in a great set of blues laden, rock riff driven songs, with a hint of psychedelia for extra measure. Shame that the crowd at that point was still small, as they put on a good show.

Next came The Ordinary Boys. A fair smattering of fans in the crowd gave them a warm reception and they knocked off their performance with a very polished set which got the crowd warmed up nicely. Their hit Boys Will Be Boys was welcomed with great enthusiasm and got the crowd bouncing along nicely.

They thanked The Who for the influence they've had on them and countless other bands over the last 40 years and they even managed to get a cheeky little plug in for the Welly Club, recalling their last trip here.
