Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Forum is launched in North East Lincolnshire
|
The Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education's i-Bar will be playing
host to the launch of LGBT Forum for North East Lincolnshire, on Thursday
28th February 2008 at 5pm.Guests will be joined by Dan Bryan (Big Brother 5)
who will officially launch the event with music from a local DJ.
The North East Lincolnshire LGBT Forum; the only organisation of its kind in
the area will work in collaboration with a range of local partners including
the police and the council to tackle problems faced by LGBT people.

Their aim is to increase the visibility and voice of LGBT people and in addition
they will attempt to ensure that the specific needs of the LGBT Community are
met with regard to safety and service provision.
Alex Baghurst, Diversity Development Manager at the Institute said:

"The launch of this forum is an exciting development for individuals, the community and North East Lincolnshire - as we work towards equality for all and to achieve the maximum potential from the diversity of our people."

The concept behind the forum is to provide an official channel of communication and influence between the LGBT community in NE Lincolnshire and organisations responsible for ensuring community safety and advising on specific community safety needs.
The community of North East Lincolnshire are invited to attend the launch event and future meetings to work towards the development of a community based forum that will empower the LGBT community of NE Lincolnshire and celebrate our diversity.
