An evening of spoken word featuring a headline set from Radio 4 Saturday Live regular
Kate Fox, Write to Speak presents: Northern Elements is part of a pioneering Arts Council initiative to develop spoken word throughout the North.
Produced in conjunction with Fruit and the ARC in Stockton-on-Tees, this special show is part of a series of events that will be taking place at different venues throughout the North during March.

Kate Fox is a stand up comedian, poet and journalist based in Newcastle upon Tyne. She has been a Poet in Residence on
Radio 4's Saturday Live since 2007, writing topical poems and performing them for two million listeners once a month.
She's performed stand up comedy and poetry gigs all over the world, from the South Bank Centre in London, to the Prague
Fringe Festival. Her new collection Fox Populi is available from Smokestack Books.

Ruth began performing on the open mic circuit above a pub on Hull's Newland Avenue. From there she developed her own breed of poetry, comedy and music.
Nine months later, she gave birth to a show, which earned her critical acclaim (especially the one about vaginas). Her first review described her as 'Victoria Wood on acid'. During her broadcasting career, Ruth has reported for radio and TV, including John Peel's Radio 4 programme, Home Truths and Channel 5 News. She also spent ten years in BBC local radio, where her passion for poetry ignited.

Lucy Beaumont from Hull has won BBC Radio 2 New Comedy Award 2012: the nationwide search to find the best new stand-up comedy talent in the UK.
The heats for the annual competition were held in venues across the country between August and October 2012. Lucy Beaumont made it all the way to the finals
held at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool.

September 2012 will see the return of the Duck's Bill Drama Festivalin Cottingham.
