Europe, Sweden, Music Reviews
By Fredrik Joachimsson
My Name is Fredrik Joachimsson from Sweden.

I formed my band Culloden in 2002, and we've been rehearsing since. Not a single show have we played yet!

I've worked hard to get the sound that I wanted, both on the CD's that I produce and with the guys that I play with!
Throughout these two years I believe I've changed a lot musically.

It started when my first keyboard player came onboard.

The style went from pure power-metal, like Stratovarius, Rhapsody to more progressive metal like Dream Theater, Symphony X, Pain of Salvation!
He taught me a lot about music theory, such as odd time signatures, how to handle it in a more realistic and theoretical way.

I took music lessons from age 13 to 16 and learned a lot of things there too but it was at a much more basic level!
So I'm very glad I met up with this great man on keyboards.

Unfortunately he's not in the band anymore but he did a lot of great work for Culloden and should take credit for it!
Today I have an another amazing keyboard player, David! He turns 20 this year and brings out the sound of good old traditional prog-tunes like Toto, Yes, Genesis.

The great and talented Mr. Jordan Rudess from Dream Theater really inspires him!

We also have a very talented drummer with us called Daniel. A very technical and controlled drum-player.
He turns 20 this year too. I'm glad to have such young, capable musicians in my group!
The second guitarist, Kristoffer is the one who brings out the heavy sound.

He's inspired by bands like Pantera, Fear Factory and Swedish Darkane!

The bass-player named Michael was the first man I discussed the idea of Culloden with!

I wanted to start a metal band and asked him if he was interested in making it become reality.
I recorded some songs at home and showed him and he was thrilled.
Later on we landed in a small rehearsing room in a village outside of Lund called Håstad where we began practising the songs together that I'd been recording at home.

After a long while, we're now feeling that we can present our songs in a more professional way and will soon be ready to do our first gig with Culloden!
That's going to be the most exciting day in my life, to show the crowd what this is all about!
Attitude, emotion, aggression, long adventures! Well, you cannot miss a heavy evening with Culloden! Just like the battle of Culloden in Scotland the year 1746!

May the force be with us!

North America, USA, Music Reviews, Jambodians
By Michelle Dee
Kentucky has been hiding a secret. No poultry-pickers, it's not the Colonel's secret recipe. No, it is the diverse collection of Grammy award winners on the Jambodians CD. I have just been given a copy of this CD to listen to. A thought went through my mind as the first track started; Read more...

Europe, Sweden, Music Reviews - A nightmare at the
Rönne River bar Sweden - Confusion From L:A
By P.O. Rydeström
We had been given a gig at a pub in a small town called Ängelholm in the south of Sweden. This was after the owner of the pub had heard about our three piece band, comprising of two guitarists and I on saxophone and this bar was called the "Rönne River bar". It was in the middle of the summer and we weren't exactly looking forward to playing in a smoke filled pub on such a hot night. Read more...

Europe, Uk, Music - Sending Out Demos - Some Simple
Advice By Glenn Williams (Lazyswede Productions)
There are thousands of demos posted daily to record companies and radio stations and managers etc. The chances of them all being heard is so small that sometimes it hardly seems worth bothering. In many cases, the problem is simply to do with the packaging of the product. I must admit, I was also once guilty of sending out a CDR or a cassette with just my telephone number.. Read more...

Europe, Uk, Music - SIT UP and Listen to Riley by Cilla
Dave Robertson, Riley song writer has a way with words. You can just hear a ghost of a twang of his Liverpudlian accent come through. Just enough to melt one or two hearts, I suspect. And the tunes? Well, I can't stop listening. They stick in your brain. Sit Up, the single from their new EP is, to me, their most memorable song. The lyrics are simple; like the Sunday morning when you woke up ..
